Dowel Pins
Standard Dowel Pins
A solid cylindrical semi-permanent pin which is inserted under force into a slightly undersized hole
to locate parts in a fixed position or to maintain alignment. Dowel pin tolerances are usually quite accurate.
The pins come in different materials, hardness and precision and should be selected in accordance with the requirements of the application. Hardened pins enable more load carrying capacity. Stainless steel pins allow for more corrosion resistance.
The ends of dowel pins are usually either chamferred, rounded or a combination of the two. The chamferred edge allows the pin to be located accurately prior to pressing into the hole.
Extractable Dowel Pins
Our extractable dowel pins are hardened and precisely ground to DIN 7979 with a diametrical tolerance of m6. The feature that
makes them "extractable" is a small tapped hole in one end of the dowel. This allows for a hardened screw to be inserted
and used to pull the pin out from a blind hole without damage to the components being held. An air release flat is also
ground along the length to overcome pressure due to trapped air on insertion and suction due to vacuum on removal.
Dowel Bushings
Dowel bushings are made from Spring Steel and used in conjunction with a metric bolt or machine screw. The bushing facilitates an accurate hold for components that require joining by nut and bolt.
