Balls

Synthetic ruby and sapphire balls are available from MBA. The material offers extreme hardness, wear resistance, non-corrosiveness and chemical inertness with a specific gravity of 3.98. Ruby and sapphire balls are used in chemical pump check valves, wind indicators, probe and test measurement tips, medical check valves, master ball gauging sets, ball plug gauges, sapphire fiber optic lens systems, tracer tips, gyroscopic wear points and precision metering valve assemblies.

Ruby and sapphire balls can be used for low friction and long wear bearing applications. The melting point is 2,000^oC and oxidation of the material isn’t a problem.

Sapphire balls offer good optical qualities with a refractive index of 1.76.

The MBA range of ruby and sapphire balls are mostly produced to Grade 25.
